Locks and lockpicks

A house's door and its strongbox open to their key, or to a patient thief. With a lockpick from someone shifty, kneel at a locked property door or strongbox and /pick it. Move the pick to feel for each pin's sweet spot, then lean on it. Force a pin in the wrong place and the pick may snap, and a snapped pick is loud: everyone near hears it, and so do the watch on duty and the owner. Better houses keep better locks. An opened lock is housebreaking in the law's eyes.
